UCL Fantasy Matchday 4: Scout Picks

Matchday 4 looks like a week to chase attacking returns. Clean-sheet prospects are thin across much of the slate, while several sides have strong scoring projections. That shifts the appeal toward defenders who create chances and attackers with favourable fixtures. The picks below are an early guide for the next deadline. If you’re still shaping your squad, the [UCL Fantasy Toolkit](https://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/ucl) includes free planning resources; [Chief Scout Members](https://bit.ly/FFScoutEditorial) can also access player projections, underlying statistics, a Fixture Ticker, Rate My UCL Team and a Draft Tool.

Goalkeepers

LASK sit among four teams with a 30% clean-sheet probability, putting €4.5m goalkeeper Lukas Jungwirth on the budget shortlist. That projection is useful, though hardly a guarantee. If Jungwirth doesn’t return enough on the opening day, Viking’s home fixture against Champions League newcomers Sabah gives Arild Østbø (€4.5m) another low-cost route to a possible shutout.

Defenders

When clean sheets look hard to call, a defender’s attacking work matters more. Inter’s Federico Dimarco (€5.0m) fits that brief: after setting the Serie A assist record last season, he has recorded 15 shots and created 20 chances domestically this campaign. Feyenoord are next, a favourable matchup for a wing-back who can add points at either end.
Matchday 4 Picks
Arsenal lead the projected clean-sheet rankings and have already kept eight shutouts in all competitions. Against Slavia Praha, Gabriel Magalhães (€6.0m) brings defensive potential plus recent goalscoring form. Ezri Konsa (€4.7m) also earns consideration after a recent attacking return.
Dortmund are among the three strongest teams for projected clean-sheet probability before hosting Real Betis. Waldemar Anton (€4.5m) is a cheaper way into their back line, with his regular starting place adding some security.
Sporting CP will be looking to respond after losing to LASK, and Shakhtar Donetsk have failed to score in two of their last three matches. That makes Sergi Altimira (€4.0m) a speculative budget pick: he’s listed as a defender but plays in midfield, and is among the game’s cheapest regular starters.

Midfielders

Barcelona rank among the top two teams for projected goals and host Aston Villa. Raphinha (€9.7m) has penalties and set pieces in his favour; Lamine Yamal (€10.2m) has already contributed to 14 goals in La Liga this season. Both have clear routes to returns, though the prices call for confidence in Barcelona’s attack.
Lens have conceded at least twice in all three of their opening Champions League games. Como’s Nicolás Paz (€7.0m) is the standout target after a 20-point haul last time out, built on two goals, an assist and the Player of the Match award. That’s a remarkable return; repeating it is another matter. Viking’s 3-3 draw was one of the tournament’s biggest surprises and offered a glimpse of their home attacking threat. With Sabah visiting, captain and penalty taker Zlatko Tripic (€5.8m) is worth a look. He has a goal and two assists this campaign.
Matchday 4 Picks
Olise’s Bundesliga form is shown above. LASK have the highest projected goal total of the round. They’ve scored three against both Sporting CP and Liverpool, and now meet a Slovan Bratislava defence described as vulnerable. Christoph Lang (€4.5m) could be a value pick, especially if he again plays in a more advanced role than usual.

Forwards

Three forward picks built around form

Luis Suárez (€7.3m) has scored in each of the Champions League’s first three matchdays, and his league record backs up that run: eight goals and an assist in 10 appearances. Against Shakhtar Donetsk, the Sporting CP forward has a strong case for a place in the Scout Picks. This is more than a short European hot streak; his domestic numbers point to sustained form.

Kylian Mbappé (€11.0m) joins him up front. Real Madrid have scored four times over their last two matches, giving Mbappé a promising platform. He showed what he can do in Matchday 2, scoring, assisting and earning Player of the Match honours. The question is whether Madrid can keep that attacking momentum going.

Serhou Guirassy (€8.6m) rounds out the attack, with one of the strongest projected points totals among forwards. Borussia Dortmund host Real Betis, who have let in two goals across their opening two Champions League games. Guirassy’s appeal is his ceiling: he has scored twice in two of his last three appearances in the competition. If you’re weighing reliability against upside, that record makes him hard to ignore.
